For a lot of people staying consistent is challenging because they feel overwhelmed to produce the amount of content they need for their business while running their business. Trust us, we feel the same! It can be daunting trying to find new, fresh content ideas daily. That’s why we dump as many ideas into a storage file as possible when the ideas come to us.
A great place to search for content inspiration is on social media. To do this we do a monthly search on a specific topic in our niche on Pinterest, TikTok, Youtube and Instagram. Then, we save everything we find in folders. Once we have 30-50 inspiration ideas for the month we create an excel spreadsheet with our brand pillars by category. Since we are a brand and marketing agency specializing in brand design, social media management and coaching, our brand pillars are broken up into categories based on each of our offerings.
Example:
Pillar: Social Media Management
Categories: Reels, Social Media Strategy, Canva Hacks.
Topics: How To Edit Reels Like A Pro, How To Post And Schedule Content With A Strategy, How to Create Thumbnails In Canva.
We breakdown every pillar and then organize all of our categories and topics accordingly. Once we have all of our content outlined we come up with a strategy for our quarterly goal. Right now we are promoting a free content planner so all of our content for this month is geared toward valuable tips to build brand awareness, engagement and followers that take action toward your offering. This free content planner is a lead generator the upsells to a paid offering. By knowing what our goal is: To download our free content planner, we can generate content ideas that upsell to our paid offering. This is a great way to create content with a strategy so it has a purpose and is consistent.
When you are searching for inspiration it is easy to get lost in the creativity of others. However, we are not suggesting that you lose your momentum by distracting yourself with other peoples work, but rather, by using SEO to research content and study what is performing well, what resonates with your brand and what inspires you. Use that information to your advantage to recreate similar content that is on-brand with your business and sticks to your strategy.
Creating content can be fun and easy if you have a list of content ideas ready to go. We challenge you to establish your monthly and quarterly goals. Then, create a spreadsheet with your 5 brand pillars. Research the topics that relate to your monthly goal and make a list of the topics that will help you reach that goal. Be sure to categorize your list by most important to least important topics. Once you have all of your ideas start creating content.
Pro Tip: Include a hyper link in your spreadsheet that redirects back to your original inspiration content so you don’t lose it or forget it. Sometimes seeing something multiple times helps keep you motivated and stay on track.
The great thing about utilizing a spreadsheet to create content is you are able to track your progress, stick to a consistent schedule and create multiple pieces of content in one day. This saves you time and helps alleviate that overwhelming feeling of not knowing what to post next.
