If you are like many of our clients when they come to us you might be struggling to grow on Instagram. The fact is, you can’t grow on instagram if you don’t have a clear niche and a concrete content marketing strategy. So what does this mean? It means stop wasting time posting reels and other types of content everyday without a purpose. The number of pieces of content you share will not help you grow. Consistent, valuable content will.
If you are asking, “how can I fix this,” we can help you. If you dilute your content trying to hop on every trend and every trending audio posting content just to post content, the chances of you getting seen by the people who will eventually become a loyal follower/subscriber and buy into your offering are slim. However, if you niche down you open yourself up the possibility of attracting your ideal client/customer.
Here’s how you do it. Get serious about your niche. Don’t try to be everything for everyone. Be one thing to someone. For instance, if you are a chef, what kind of chef are you? A chef without a specialty is a broad niche. You are not going to attract anyone if you don’t have a specific target market. However, if you are a chef who bakes, or you are a vegan chef, or a holistic wellness chef, you are opening your audience up to all of the people who are specifically looking for tips and recipes in that specific niche.
If you have not established your niche, start by asking yourself a series of human design questions here. If you are clear on your niche and still not growing on Instagram this is why.
As we mentioned above, you cannot attract your ideal client if you are marketing to everyone. You are spreading yourself thin by doing this and coming off as inauthentic. You have to be clear who you want to attract. Once you establish who you want to attract you need to market to them accordingly. For instance, let’s say you are a content creator who creates social media content for product based brands. If your goal is to attract beauty brands as clients but you are posting all of the content you’ve created for every type of brand: food, beauty, sports, fashion, lifestyle and so on, you will not standout in your market. However, if you decide you are a clean beauty brand creator and you start creating content with only clean brand products, then you will start to attract clean beauty content creators, users, and brands. Once you do this you can follow trends to create clean beauty brand content that is specifically tailored to match your branding and content.
By doing this you are not only telling the Instagram algorithm who you want to attract to your profile, but you are also telling Instagram what you want to see more of. This helps you to constantly show up to the right audience while also being “in the know” of everything clean beauty ahead of trends. Once your account started to generate buzz and credibility you can study your analytics to create more content like your highest performing content. By building credibility in your market you will will also gain brand authenticity. Once you have brand loyalty you will grow your audience exponentially and attract the right clients for your brand.
Instagram growth is not a get rich overnight solution to growing your business. However, if you are consistent and put in the work you will see small results that will turn into huge rewards. Once that happens it will become a snowball affect of Instagram growth. If you are struggling to see results, don’t give up, get clear on your niche. A great place to get you started on trending topics in your niche is Answer The Public, YouTube and TikTok searches. Find creators like you who are performing well in those categories and see what they are lacking that you can do better. There is always room in every market for a new voice to be heard.
